Little Updates

It's been abt a week since i got back.
started my leave last sat n will b on leave till 1st jan 2008.
shiok!!

leaving for shanghai/beijing in like 2 days' time.
bought my winter jacket w the ampersand boss n jarrod last week.
not forgetting a pair of gloves n a beanie too :)

my bag's pretty much packed.
n for the heck of it, i bought a lomo cam.
the action sampler.

seems like fun... gona bring it along w me on the trip.
only wish i can see the results now instead of having to finish the whole roll of film n developing it.
think the digital camera age has made me less patient w seeing my fotos after taking them.

been in a movie mood lately.
watched hitman n golden compass. planning to catch enchanted n lust, caution.
lust caution is like ending soon. hope i can catch it tom.

went for another interview last thur. it's a job based in sg, w occasional travelling.
perks seem pretty good- car allowance, 18 days leave.
now i juz hope the salary can match wad i wana get.

registered a company so dat if i get this job, i can go buy a commercial van.
diesel is cheaper than petrol. so many things hinging on my getting this job at a desirable salary.

my dad wants to change the sofa n sideboards after christmas, so gona go shopping w him after i get back.
plus i'm hoping to get a bose sound sys for the house as well... hehehe...
playing guitar hero at home w dat is gona b such a blast. woohoo !!

guess dat's all for now...
more when i get back from shanghai/beijing.
so exciting... going to some really cold country for the first time.
gona see snow !! weeee !!

i so sua ku. almost 30 den get to see snow.

Boats Are my 2nd Home

Got back from batam doing some setup work on a rig and a barge.
had a day's break n after working thru yesterday n today,
it's time to sail off again tonite to the gulf of thailand.

fortunately, this is gona b only a one week job...
so will b back home soon... :)
so dun need to miss me...

but the one week in batam was real hard work...
pulling cables across the deck, setting up gps antennas on top of the crane on the rig,
which at the very top, where i was, shd be abt 70 meters from the ground.
think damien, mark n ben would have been so scared dat they prob will have shitted in their pants.
hehehehe...

this weekend n the next burnt... my consolation is my long leave in dec.
n my holiday trip to shanghai !!yay!!
but need winter clothes...
so the ampersand boss is going to shop w me when i get back...
hor? hor? hehehehe...

dat's all for now la.
gota go take a bath n get ready to go for mass at sacred heart since couldn't attend this morning.
take care u all!!

abt time i update abit also...
but lazy la...

K is a killer.
let me know if u have REAL correct answers.

and congrats to lil ms snooze once more on the birth of lil nat. handsome looking chap i must say...

and now, updates of sorts.
it's been like abt 3 weeks since my stupendous holiday in melbourne.
came back w 3 new pairs of shoes n abt 14 tops including 5 which i ordered from chargrilled
n a hoodie from funkyshoes.

was at cafe del mar for dinner last weekend to celebrate jacq's bday.
food wasn't all dat great. so dun go there w high expectations.
tho the food does look good... but looks can b deceiving... and they are in this case.

but the company was great. it's always nice to hang w the church peeps.
hope to do it more often...
of coz not forgetting the fri dinner kakis as well.

been playing a bit of mj recently... n losing money... luck not so good.
i need to b cheapo n find noobs to play w.

going to batam on thur for work... gona b there like for abt 5 days.
den coming back n hopefully will stay ard till my leave starts n i start preparing for my dec shanghai holiday
which includes a xi'an/ beijing trip...
which means the bund, terracotta army, possibly skiing in beijing, shopping along nanjing road, visiting notable architectural n historical sites ard shanghai/ beijing.

unfortunately, i'll b flying on china eastern due to budget constraints.
flying on sq will set me back by another 450. which i can easily change to RMB to spend.
so have to make do...

esp since my dad din give them a good rating when he n my mum flew china eastern for their 9 day yunnan trip
which they juz came back from.

been sending out resumes, hoping for a reply so i can change to a job dat will keep me in sg so i can have a social life.
n meet frens n watch musicals n plays n go sentosa for chillout sats, botanical gardens for picnics, eating all over the country.
n of coz hopefully salary can help me afford a van.

guess dat's abt it for now...
for all of u having ur exams now or have them coming up, good luck !!

2 Journeys Completed

I was finally freed from the "slavery" of the life dat was the norm on the barge...

was flown out to dili on the first chopper @ 6.15am...
arrived at 7.30am, only to have to wait till 2pm for my flight from dili to darwin. %$&*$@!

reached darwin at like 3.30pm n it was abt 5pm by the time i checked into the holiday inn for a short rest b4 i leave for melbourne (via sydney) on my 1.30am flight.
after a quick transit, i was in lovely melbourne at 8.30am.

so dat makes 2 journeys complete... one was abt 58 days long n the other a mere 9hrs.
but nonetheless, dat's 2 down... and one hellavu spanking time in my short 4 days stay in melbourne.

to prepare for the "big nite out" w ryan n friends, i had to go get decent looking clothes, worthy enough for the nite of partying... n within 3 hrs of touching down in melb, i'm A$200 poorer but 3 tops richer. 1 carhatt tee n 2 fcuk tops - 1 tee n 1 polo.
pretty good buys i must say...

plans to go get good cheap adidas n nike stuff tom at their factory outlet...
followed by the mega adventure of kevin at the crown :D
hehehe...

i thank all who have been a regular source of boredom killing while i was dying of boredom on the barge. haha...
ppl who bothered to keep me engaged on msn n chatted w me... n putting up w watever nonsense i made them endure... :P
facebook has done much in terms of keeping me occupied during the v dull days of "work".

but none will have been possible if there was no internet access on the barge.
and thank god for dat !!

i've finally had 2 solid hours of good sleep in the last 48hrs. coz i have not had proper sleep since 11.30am of 18th oct.
due to the travelling n all.

n after a short 2 hr nap, dinner is pizza delivered to the house... coz ryan is too lazy to wake up...
looks good tho.
photos when i'm free enough to download from cam n upload to shutterfly/facebook.

dinnertime now... den it's mj time... den it's chionging time... so my nite is all planned n is gona b loooong.
u all have a great weekend coz i know mine how is gona be ;)

hahaha... blast from the past.

so before "wake me up before september ends" by green day,
there was "wake me up before you go-go" by wham!

Those Were The Days

Ced sent me this last week...
felt so nostalgic just listening to it...
i felt like it was just yesterday, tho it's more like 13 yrs to be precise.
but i've never heard it being sung so dreamily, so hopeful before.
not to mention the orchestral accomplement.

i have sung it for 4 years only... not like ced or ben toh who have sung it for i guess 10 years?
but hearing it again definitely brings me back to those days.
and i dun think singing it for only 4 years makes me any less patriotic (if the word even applies here.)

i loved the time i spent there and the friends i've made tho regrettably, i'm only in contact with one of them.
will love to meet up with all of them some time...
juz to see how they are...

Bitten By The Bug

I've been bitten by the facebook bug.
frens have been asking me to sign up and all... saying how fun it is and how intereactive, etc.
but i've always declined coz i hardly update on friendster anyway...
so wasn't keen on another social networking thingy.

but boredom has taken its toll on me and i gave in...
i signed up.
and so during my 12hr shift i'm, quoting peter, "grinding on facebook".
chalking up munny to buy food for my (fluff) pet, gaining xp on mobster,
imcreasing points for my vampire and zombie, superpoking frens to unlock new actions...

but i must admit dat tho the interface is rather messy unlike friendster's, it is rather addictive.
but i figure dat i'll be less regular once i get back to sg and b busy w new games for the pc and 360.
games awaiting for me are bioshock, medal of honor: airborne (both pc) and fifa 08 (360).
not too sure when guitar hero 3 is coming out but i've seen the songlist on the game and i dun know most of the songs.
at least i know a good number of the songs on GH2.

i'm off now... gona go watch a machinima mini-series created based on MOHA. looks interesting.

My Apologies

After posting and reading through my previous entry,
i realized i've talked abt mythbusters liao...
hahaha... my apologies.

goes to show how my brain is being killed doing nothing all day.
minimal brain activity.

sorry... signing off...
ciao!!

A 2nd Chance?

I've been informed of the most wonderful news.
many thanks to john for letting me know...

and now, i have the chance to catch "The Phantom of the Opera" at the Princess Theatre in melbourne no less.
and the price of the ticket is reasonable too... A$107 for a stall seat.

all dat is left is to wait till i know the exact dates i will be in melbourne.

i've emailed the office to send a replacement coz i'm somewhat getting restless ...
and i wana be back in sg asap so dat i can be around for interviews shd chevron decide to call me for one.

but the office is having problems finding someone to replace me... so it seems i will be stuck here till 15 oct.
the day i smell freedom and return to civilisation.

in the meantime, i've been spending my afternoons watching the mythbusters.
i'm sure most of u know the show...
i brought w me 4 seasons of the show... and i'm halfway through season 4 now...
it's been interesting watching everything from the pilot episodes to season 4,
noting how the show has changed.
season 5 is currently airing in sg, think it's airing season 6 in the US.

but adam savage, one of the hosts, never fails to crack me up with his antics.
and of coz there's juz abt every geek's dream girl - kari byron.
looks like it's time to get hold of seasons 5 and watever is there of 6.

i've also just finished watching this jap drama, jotei, on crunchyroll.
interesting show... u can find the drama sypnosis here.

dat's how i've been spending my afternoons and evenings while on shift...
in addition to all dat, my usual blog reading... and email checking...

and before i sign off,
here's wishing a happy birthday to ppl who have recently celebrated or going to celebrate their birthdays:
jiahui, travis, angeline, michelle ngern, serene, and marilyn.
juz realized, looking at the list of names, none of them read my blog... or at least i duno they read it.

ohwell...
wat i have written, i have written :)
guess dat's all for now... hope to see everyone when i get back...

meantime, take care everyone... seems to be a gastric flu bug going ard...
i know of 2 ppl down w it already.

Countdown...

The flare at the platform was out yesterday.
the flare is wad burns off the excess gas dat the platform vents out due to excessive pressure buildup in the extraction process.
anyhoo...what it all means is dat as of yesterday, the platform shutdown works has more or less officially begun.

which i guess i can start my approximate 28 day countdown...
with today being 1 down, 27 to go...

cant wait till the day the client says dat everything's a wrap and i can go back to civilisation.
which will den mean going down to the qantas office to get my ticket changed.
going to melbourne... woohoo!!

i prob have mentioned it b4... i cant even remember and am too lazy to go trackback to check.
so if i've mentioned melb b4, sorry ppl... ;P

as my msn nick says, mythbusters have been my bestest buddies for the last few days.
been watching them for abt 1/2 of my working shift time which amounts to abt 6hrs.
with another 1 hr attributed to having lunch and dinner, mayb lesser, since i eat fairly fast.
hahaha...

the rest of the shift time is spent walking abt, stepping out in the sun to get warm
coz it can get fairly cold up on the bridge...
doesn't help dat i'm sitting right under the aircon as well.

so yea... i've got 4 seasons of mythbusters (thanks again, peter!)
have finished season 1, in the middle of season 2.
as i watch the episodes, i realized dat i've actually managed to diligently follow most of the first 2 seasons coz they all seem v familiar.

i think it's seasons 3 and 4 dat i've missed most episodes on tv.
so this is a good chance for me to catch up.
was also checking out the discovery website to see if they put up their filming locations and schedule...
so fans of the show can follow... coz on a few episodes, a group of fans made appearances on the show, tho v far from the action.
but how cool is dat? watching the guys of ur fav show filming and carrying out the experiments to prove or debunk the myths.

so since i was checking out the discovery website, i went to see if they had nice tees i could get...
i was hoping for one dat said "busted" but they've only got "plausible" :(
guess dat's a good thing as well... since i've already spent some on my tees and hoodie which have arrive, by the way.
and are sitting at peter's house, awaiting my arrival back home.

cant wait till i get off the barge...
as one of the mates who works the same shift as me said "the sound of the helicopter is the sweetest u can hear when u are going home."
i cant wait for dat day to come...
till den... it's lots of movies, games, mythbusters, cartoons and prayer...
hoping and praying i'll get the job at chevron...

more on the job applications another day...

Happy Birthday!!

It's dat time of the year again.
it's 4th sept...

my birthday!
but i'm spending it on the barge, having nothing to do all day...

juz got an email informing me dat my payment for my tees have been refunded.
emailed the company. waiting for a reply.

been working on my resumes and sending out a few while i was out at sea.
even one to chevron, the very place where my dad works... haha...
luckily the position i'm applying for is in a different dept from my dad.
i think it'll b quite weird to b working in the same department as my dad.

but at the same time,
i'm grateful for the help my dad has given me in helping find out abt the job vacancies in chevron
and helping me look out for the ad in the papers.
so i've been working on my cv and going to send soon...

so this job is my no 1 priority... i'm really hoping to get this job... i duno why.
there's juz this excitement that's building up in me as i prepare to send out my resume.

oh... and here's a request, for those who more or less drop by to keep upself updated w my life,
pls leave a comment or something so i know u drop by... and my blog wun look so dead.
hahaha... i know i haven't been blogging for quite a long while...
and this workless project i'm on right now is the perfect time and place for me to get started again.

and for those who are looking for decently cheap and unique accessories,
check out liquidesigns. it's run by a fren who makes them...
she recently resurrected the business... hahaha... i think.
so yea.. check it out and if u see something u like, go get it.
while stocks last !!

i've got approximately slightly under 2 months till i get out and get home...
but i'm hoping and planning to drop by melbourne to visit ryan on my way back.
prob gona spend a couple of days there...
gona shop a bit, walk a bit, pub quite a lot of bit and gamble lots at crown... hahaha...

guess dat's all i have folks.
cheerios!!

Nice, Lazy, Expensive Sat...

The weekend's here again...
my 2nd weekend here onboard...

no one's online... feeling all lazy...
the perfect time for a day out at the beach,
catching some sun, cooling off in the sea, games in the sand.
end off the evening w a nice drink over at cafe del mar by the pool bar or the jacuzzi...
Mmmmmm...

i'd love dat.

but nope...
i'm here out at sea, with nothing but the internet, my good fren.
i duno how many times i've said this but while i'm here,
i declare that the internet is the BESTEST thing ever created.
it's mainly the thing dat's keeping me sane rite now.

and i'm shopping for clothes.
seeing the sale over at threadless, i somehow got "inspired" to do some shopping.
but not at threadless coz everyone seems to b buying clothes from there now.
i've gone somewhere else to get some threads for myself.
and i'm not saying where...
wana keep my clothes exclusive.

yea... and i think i'll be spending something like 2-3 days' salary on my clothes.
and dat'll b abt $200-250 for some tees and a hoodie...
nice... :)

cant wait till everything here ends...
so i can go home, get my new clothes and show them off !!
not to mention meeting up w frens whom i will not have seen in like 2 1/2 months.
do some mj-ing, ktv-ing, movie-ing, pub-ing, club-ing, mambo-ing,
and i dare say... shop-ing?

hahaha...
have a great weekend everyone !!
cherrios!

Lego-Mania

Found this clip on youtube today...
have always wanted to get this...
but it costs like 600. mayb it's cheaper now.

Monday, August 27, 2007

Wow

Found this clip while blog surfing.

they're known as the king's singers.
so totally blew me away...
gona hunt for more of their clips on youtube.

on another note, decided to have a closer look at the dessert fridge in the mess today during dinner.
usually i can see 2 cakes, sitting on their own respective cake stands, on the top shelf.
on the other shelves, u can find massively huge choc chip cookies.

when i say massive, i mean massive - they're as big, if not, slightly bigger than my hand.
fingers outstretched.
think subway's cookies but one and a half times bigger and twice as thick.

food onboard has been great. gota try to cut down on my intake, otherwise i'm gona be leaving the barge a few more kilos heavier.
another day is half gone... 5 more hours to the end of shift.

All Blue

It's an all-blue day today...

clear blue skies and clear blue sea.
the sea is so clear and so calm that i can see the exact color and shape of the few fishes
that were swimming close to the surface.
not to forget the nice warm sunshine bearing down on us.

there's hardly any waves on the sea surface...
juz a dead calm...

we're juz standing by waiting for the actual work to start.
tentative date for dat is 12 sept. so it's abt another 17 days to go.
and once it's started, it's another 4-5 weeks before it's done...

looks like the internet access here on the barge and the fact dat there's abt nothing to do,
makes it easier for me to blog... hahaha...

think abt 6 chopper flights have landed today.
saw the last 2 as the pilots made their landing and take off.
coz i'm stationed on the bridge and it's juz right next to the helipad,
i could see everything dat was going on -
the emergency crew on standby dressed in their fire suits and
w their water canons at the ready.
the baggage crew, getting the bags off the chopper and lining them up at the edge of the helipad.
the pilot getting off and doing his post-landing and pre-takeoff checks.

and it's only 2.50pm now. about another 9 hours to go and i'll be off shift.
guess i'll b off now...
have a great sunday everyone!!

Breathing Life...

The breath of life fills the lungs of this blog once more...
how long this breath will last, no one knows for sure...

so here are updates since july 4 2007.
boy, it's been DAT long...

went to bali mid july. dived for 3 days...
3 great days of diving i must say...
lots of fantastic, beautiful sea life.

saw a white-tip reef shark, a couple of sting rays, a couple of lionfish
(the fish dat the ndp character is based on)
a sea snake chilling on the seabed, a v small, almost transparent seahorse.

bali pics can b found here.
includes yummy eating at a few places mentioned on chubbyhubby.

after bali, it was back to sg and doing my part to contribute to 40 years of NS - reservist.
3 weeks of meeting up w ex-colleagues, ex-officers and catching up on gossip ard the squadron.

national day also marked the end of my rt, which i have been going since mid june.
which unfortunately, means dat i cannot go offshore for any jobs.
which, in turn, means i was drawing only basic salary for the last 2 months,
my last job ending on 31 may.

but luckily for me, the next day after reservist ended on 10 aug (fri), i was asked to fly to kuantan on sat to help an engineer out there who was having some problems w the equipment.
but due to some problems w the transport getting me from the jetty to the vessel out at sea,
i din need to sail out. so it was a 4 day holiday in kuantan. juz getting paid to relax and chill.

was in and out of the office and shipyard, doing small one-day long jobs until monday, 20 aug.
it was one of the most "exciting" day since i joined fugro.
was in the office on monday, knowing i'll b leaving for a job somewhere in the timor sea either tue or wed.

but lo and behold, the first news i got when i entered the office was "u're flying tonite."
and the next thing i know, the ops secretary was busy calling the agent, trying to get me on a flight to darwin. and would u believe it, flying to darwin direct from sg on jetstar is more expensive than flying to darwin via brisbane on qantas.

so i was confirmed for 9.20pm qantas (thank god), flying to darwin w a 3 hour stopover in brisbane.

this is the first time i'm flying qantas, and flying from night till dawn coz i arrive in brisbane at 6.30am. so i was quite intrigued by the little comfort packs the stewards/stewardesses were giving out.
included in the pack were 1) one pair of socks, 2) toothbrush & toothpaste, 3) blinds or eye covers or watever u call it (stuff u put over ur eyes to help u sleep), and a lanyard which i guess is to hang the pack with.

and finally arriving in darwin and getting my room at 3pm, it's time to plan for the day b4 i have to fly off to the barge which i'm on right now the next day. so plan includes walkabout the town area of darwin to get some toiletries and time in the casino which came attached to hotel.

casino time was fruitful, at least din lose money. and soon it was time to leave.
was picked up at 3.45am so dat i can make it in time for a 5am flight to dili, east timor.
it was a small plane w only one stewardess doing everything, from serving drinks, safety demostration, opening door, etc. but it was a short 90min flight. sadly, the sunrise was on the other side of the plane. so couldn't take fotos of the sunrise.

first thing i saw when touching down in dili were the white-coloured planes and helicopters on which were painted in large font 'UN'.
the next thing i noticed when the plane was turning ard at the end of the runway to taxy to the airport was dat the runway is right at the edge of the island. u can run off the runway and jump into the sea...

off the plane at the airport and had to check-in for my helicopter flight to the barge.
unfortunately, my hp and camera have been withheld by the company providing the helicopter service to the barge, so cannot take pictures of e beautiful sunrise i've seen today and the upcoming lunar eclipse.

the busy period of the job for me is over... been checking and starting up the equipment that had been set up onboard the barge and finally today is the day, everything is started, checked and running smoothly.

so i'll be rotting the next 40-odd, 50 days, trying to make 12 hrs pass quickly.

here we go... a fairly concise and rapid update from the last entry to today.
there're a few exciting things going on but i will not say until it's actually confirmed and all... :)

dat's all from me, folks...

enjoy urselves and take care !

Autobots, Transform and Roll Out

Went down to the adidas factory outlet sale at wing tai building w bryan, ewen and peter yest afternoon. tot the place is near tampines mrt since it is at tampines road. decided to get a cab after we realized we can find it on the locality map. and discovered the place is quite far from tampines and nearer to hougang in fact.

so after all the digging and searching... i bought myself a tee and 2 shorts.
i duno y but the tees i picked all matched my bag...

but of coz in the end... i only got this t-shirt.
and i realized while shopping or paying dat i've got a pair of trackpants dat's of the same colour scheme.

after shopping, we decided it'll b more cost effective if we juz cabbed back to the west.
so to westmall we went, and decided to check out the showtime for transformers.
we were at the cinema at 3.50pm and there was a 4pm show. so we queued for tix and got in the cinema at 4pm. juz in time. and the movie started i think juz shortly after we sat down...

i've got to say the movie's good... there were a few scenes where the cinematography were great.
i understand the need to have the robots looking realistic... but i dun like their faces...
too many lines and details... makes them look ugly.

plus w so much metal showing, cant really tell who's fighting who when any 2 of the robots fight.
w the only exception being optimus prime who cant fight for nuts.

i have to admit dat it wasn't dat bad having bumblebee appear as a camaro instead of his usual vw beetle. makes him looks quite v sleek...
but they could have less bare metal and more colours on their bodies so they can be more easily identified.

throughout the show, i am familiar w all the autobots' names. of all the decepticons, i only know megatron (who doesn't) and starscream (who's name in the chinese subtitle is 星星叫).
i'm guessing the radio robot is soundwave, but cant confirm. coz i dun remember anyone calling it by name.

one last grouse i've got is dat u dun hear much of the trademark transforming sound when they transform...
either dat or it's juz so soft...

i cant wait to copy g1 from bryan... wana re-live my childhood again...
i've already got visionaries, gona work on m.a.s.k., working on thunderbirds.
bryan's working on thundercats.
have to find he-man also... :)

Yummy Cow Meat

Dinner last nite was at morton's @ the oriental w my fellow expensive-food foodie, rachel.
but becoz reservation was at 7.30pm and we were there at 6.30pm,

we popped into the bar for $10 martinis...
it was pretty crowded... we had to stand at the bar.
of coz we started w lychee martinis...
halfway thru, the steak sandwiches came!!
and i'm sure everyone knows abt these yummilicious steak sandwiches.

shortly after, we progressed from standing at the end of the bar to seats in the middle of the bar.
and i was craving for more yummy steak sandwiches.
and juz when i tot dat there's no more steak sandwiches,
2 more big trays came in!!
one more round of sandwiches.
and by now, it's round 2 of martinis, chocolate martini for me...

i was constantly reminded not to go for steak sandwich round3 coz got steak dinner later.
so had to resist.

so 7.30 came and we went in for dinner.
we sat there, expecting someone to give us menus but were told dat our server will pop over for a presentation of the meat cuts and stuff.

so we waited. while waiting, an egg-and-onion bread was served.
and dat was juz so good as well... but i went easy on the bread...
i want my cow.

so the server came and did her presentation of all the meat cuts and the other entrees.
and the presentation includes "larry", a live lobster, juz to show dat lobster's on the menu.

hehe...
i wanted to try the porterhouse steak but was feeling not so v hungry after the martinis,
steak sandwiches and bread, so we both had the double cut filet mignon, medium rare.
*slurp*

but before our steaks, we had maine lobster cocktail for appetisers.
lobster tasted great, fresh and served in a dish on ice. comes w a mustard mayo dip.
there are actually 2 dips but i cant rem wat was the other, coz i din really like it.

after appetiser, it was time for the main event...
when i cut my steak, it was appetite wetting bloody meat with seared sides.
i wasted no time in putting the first piece in... and it was heavenly...
the meat juz melts in my mouth. so tender and there was no need to cut the steak as if u were sawing a piece of wood or metal.

side dishes are separate from the steaks. so we had creamed spinach.
i din touch the spinach much coz i was so occupied w my steak, and i could hardly touch it when i was done.
but the little bit i had was good too.

we had ordered their hot chocolate cake, which is a choc cake w a melted choc centre.
but bcoz we were so full, we had to cancel our dessert... :(
gona go back there again someday.
i will and i must.

and the damage to our wallets was $280.
for 2 steaks, one appetiser, one side dish and one pellagrino.
this is not counting the 4 martinis we had b4 dinner.

so massive damage... but well worth the price.

oh btw, i doggy bagged the bread. it was too good to leave it on the table.
so i brought home the bread, rachel brought home the spinach.

and so my afternoon snack today was the bread. nice and yummy.
u can smell the fragrant scent of the onion. it's not the over-powering onion smell...
and the loaf is all yellow from the egg.
i din know until i brought it home. coz the lighting in the restaurant was mainly yellow light.
so couldn't tell...

but yea... morton's is a place everyone shd go at least once in their lifetimes...

time for bed now... gota work tom.
how ironic, when i was bumming at home, i was hoping for work.
now dat there's work, i wish i can bum at home.

i am hard to please.

nitezzz *Zzzzz*

oh... fotos will b up when i get them from rachel.
they will definitely be up... only question is when.

nitezzz *Zzzzz*

It's Over

This post is a little overdue and late...
but anyhoo...

it's finally over... a great fantastic journey for both the performers and the audience,
live or otherwise. and for those who duno, paul potts won the contest, bagging for himself 100,000 pounds and
a performance at this year's Royal Variety Performance.
i cant wait for Britain's Got Talent 2008.

it's been a wonderful week hunting down the daily episodes and watching the amazing performances.
and it all began w 4 clips -
one of connie talbot with her song, the kit kat girls w their song and dance, dominic smith and his beautiful vocals
and lastly, paul potts and his amazing opera singing.

and now the show is over... the winner announced...
it's time to move on to something else...

Mind Your Language !!

i duno how many of u know or remember this british comedy originally produced in the 70s.
but i remember watching re-runs of the show on tv when i was in poly (i think)
it's an absolutely brilliant show.

it was running ard the same time 'allo allo' and 'black adder' were showing on tv...
both of which are great shows to watch as well...
tho black adder's humour can get a little dry, but funny nonetheless
coz there's funnyman rowan atkinson fronting the comedy.

on other happenings...
1) my shower heater died last fri... so been stuck w frigging cold water for the last few days...
but dat's now a thing of the past!! coz the contractors came down today to install the new heater.
so hooray for hot showers once more.

2) sunday marked the start of my 4-week RT.
so my sunday afternoons and thursday evenings are burnt...
and after my bali trip, it's 'upgraded' to tue, thur evenings and sunday afternoons dat are gona get burnt. cant wait till it's all over...
den i can not bother myself w rt or ippt until after my birthday.

3) this is my 100th post... a small, mayb even insignificant milestone compared to quite a
number of ppl... but not bad in my eyes...
because i never really expected myself to start blogging so yea...

and as porky pig will say,
a-bi-did, a-bi-did, dat's all folks!!

p.s. hope the phonetics are correct. how the hell do u put the front bit in words?!

Ali G

Wicked!!

From connie's tear-jerking rendition of 'somewhere over the rainbow',
we move on to something more familiar...
ok... more familiar to those who listened to music in the early 90s.

downloading britain's got talent episode 5.
and somehow becoz of stefette's question, i ended up googling 'pj and duncan'.
and found this...

for the un-initiated, pj & duncan were ant & dec's previous group name when they juz started out their music career.
download ends in 4hrs.

a little more abt the show... britain's got talent is a show to find an act for the royal variety performance.
winner not only gets to perform in front of the royal family, he also gets to take home
100,000 pounds.
having watched 4 episodes, i can safely say dat i think this show's better than american idol.
u can feel the emotions of the contestants and the audience.
and the antics of the hosts are simply funny as well... wicked!!

hope i can watch it b4 i have to leave for stefette's bday dindin...

happy bird-day girl!!
old liao hor?

keke...

I Never Knew

Who would have thought dat a 6 year old girl's singing could bring tears to my eyes.

saw this clip on mrbrown.com.
and juz had to repost this clip and share it w the ppl ard me.
i'm bloody sure mrbrown will have a wider reach.
i dun even know who drops by now... besides tweebo, stefette and ms snooze.
but wad the heck...

i'll be hunting more episodes of the show.
enjoy and b overwhelmed.

Making Music

Bought a new toy today...

and it's rather addictive i must say.
spent like abt 5 hrs playing at guerrilla games.

and now it's back at home, ready to make music...
for someone who cant play the guitar, this is as close as i can get...
hahaha...

so if anyone out there has another guitar controller, let me know,
so we can play co-op and unlock other guitars as well... :)

i know i'll b spending lots of time in front of the tv now.
now this is MORE addictive than World Of Warcraft(WOW).
having tried WOW, i still cant fathom how ppl can get addicted...
guess mayb i'm too used to playing offline single player,
so i'm not really dependent on others to heal me.
not to mention dat i prefer a mix of range and melee weapons as well.
so yea...

and this game is one of those gf/wife/non-gaming ppl-friendly games.
it's easy to pick up and it's really enjoyable.
be amazed at ur fren's skills or laugh your head off watching frens struggle to catch up w the songs.

on another note, looks like i'll b headed up to thailand again for the weekend to work.
i've no complains, i get allowances and get to clock offdays. i juz hope i'll b flying up on fri or sat and return on mon.
dat'll b good. but it's out of my hands.

alritey... i'm off to play now... i am Guitar Hero! Star Power!
heh heh...
see ya later, alligator.

Longest Run Ever

Today marks a certain accomplishment for me...

ran a massive 4km.
tho it was at a slower pace compared to the usual 2.4km pace, it's still quite a feat.
and it feels quite good to b exercising...

juz hope i wun b aching when i wake up tom...

i duno y but i was thinking of having a bday bash next year...
celebrate my entering a new age group... haha.

but only sketchy idea... i know to many it's prob an old thing...
but i think i wana do a sec sch uniform celebration thingy...
haha... think it'll b a blast seeing everyone in their 20s all wearing their sec sch uniforms.

but dat's an idea i'm toying w. damien gave me the alternative idea of making everyone
where someone else's uniform. ie, SJI boy wear Cat High uniform, etc.
we'll see how... haha...

have been in thailand for the past month working onboard...
think things are pretty much settled career-wise...
but i think i might b changing sometime next year...
comtemplating getting a job dat keeps me in sg...

my dad is getting old and i dun think i wana b away most of the time.
wana spend time at home w him as well...
so will prob start looking for another job come next year.
but we'll see...

many things seemed to have happened in the last couple months when i came back from the philippines till now when i'm back from thailand...
and i duno how to react to some of the events as well...
oh well...

i had begun this entry wanting to juz write abt my amazing 4km run...
and have no idea how it lead to the 2nd half but who cares...
haha...

guess i'll stop here...
getting more and more lazy to blog.
i duno y...

ok den... dat's all for now...
buhbyeeee !!

What A Night

It was almost like istanbul all over again...
scoring, playing till extra time, penalties...
and WINNING the match !!

this time round, there's no so-called controversial luis carcia goal to differentiate the 2 teams.
only daniel agger's 22 min shot from a steven gerrard free kick had petr cech picking up the ball from the back of his net...
clearly liverpool played a great game, keeping drogba at bay.

i was sitting on the edge of my seat feeling somewhat worried everything chelsea had a corner or
had sustained possession outside the liverpool box.
not dat i dun have any confidence in the liverpool defence.
but i have to admit, sometimes drogba can pull off some of the most unbelievable goals or goal scoring chances.
not to mention lampard who had one great shot on goal last week, only to be denied by an even greater save from pepe reina.

reina, reina, reina... wat can i say abt this man?
2 fantastic saves from robben and geremi in the penalties...

my beloved liverpool... in the champions league final once more... in athens this time round.
i cant wait to see who will meet us in the final...

tonite is gona b another big nite...
for sure milan and man u wun b going into extra time, unless milan can pull off a 3-2 win at home.
i seriously doubt so... dun think both teams can reproduce the 5 goal thriller.

up to this moment i still duno who i want liverpool to meet in the finals...
playing ac milan will be like de javu all over again, hopefully w/o having to create an amazing comeback performance...
playing man u will be... i duno... man u has been playing a great season...
but their defence is currently depleted at the moment... so this final could b the best time to play them for champions league trophy no. 6!!

so i'll juz watch the game tonite, not supporting any team in particular. juz watching it for pure good football entertainment.

sadly for me, i wun b able to catch the finals on 23 may coz i'll be somewhere in the gulf of thailand working...
so i'll be emailing ppl for results...

till den... great game liverpool... and...

YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE

300

Watched the movie '300'.
it's an adaptation of the comic of the same name by frank miller.

it's the story of the battle of thermopylae.
it's abt a battle between a greek army made up of 300 spartan hoplites and a huge persian army outnumbering
the spartans a good 1000 to1 at least.
more details at wiki.

watched it w peter... and shortly after he arrived (he was late),
he was telling me abt the how the spartan mothers will tell their sons,
"Return with shield or upon it."

and wat will u know, the queen of sparta says the exact same line to the king, Leonidas.

the movie's pretty graphic as in lots of gore. (war movie wad.)
but it's worth watching for the cinematography and fight scenes...

but guess it's a very guy movie... so every guy shd go catch it...
it's so good i'm prepared to fork out money to watch it again coz i missed some bits when i went out to pick peter up.

think for the ladies, the reason u shd watch it is u'll get to see lots of grown men half naked all the time, sporting 6 packs and pecs.
there's one scene where u see a whole lot of them walking down...

as peter says in his msn nick... this movie gets 4.5/5 popcorn.
so go catch it when it opens tom.
caught e sneak peek at westmall... hehe.

Posted a video i made while on the trip...
find it here.

the rest of the photos i took can be found here.

i is too lazy to select and put up photos...

on another note, i dun need to go bangladesh liao... yay !!
but will b doing an inhouse training course which will last till end feb.
problem is coz there's 2 days cny holiday, i have to burn 2 sats to make up for it.
sucky la.

i'd rather not have any cny holidays if dat's the case.
sat burn leh... means fri ntie also cannot go out till late.

i'll b leaving for the philippines come early march... but i'll b gone for abt 2 months...
which means i wun b ard for phantom!! *sobz sobz*

was so looking fwd to it la... also cannot catch blithe spirit...
already missed chestnuts and hossan leong's one man show.

if only they have video releases... esp for chestnuts...
i sure buy all the shows...

enjoy the photos...
and here's wishing u all a "happy chinese new year"
may everyone collect angpow plenty plenty, and win money plenty plenty also!!
i dun need angpow... juz need to win money plenty plenty... haha...
i not greedy - the upcoming 10 million toto draw will b a good start...

V-day

V-day today.

juz feels like any other day.
dun need to spend money on flowers, dinner, present or
wreck my brain to think of something different.

juz go to work, go home, meet up w some of the church peeps for dinner, go home.
dinner was at omar shariff at 6th ave.
it's a north indian restaurant. food's quite v good.

we had lots of papadam. *yummy* papadam comes w chopped onion and a mint yoghurt thingy.
which gave the papadam a v nice refreshing taste...
and naan as well... butter nann and garlic naan.
to accompany the naan, we had:
spinach w cottage cheese, butter chicken, chick peas and curry fish.
coz we were all starving, i din take pictures.

but before all dat, we have more papadam and a mixed grill appetiser.

after dinner and dessert, it was round 2 dessert at venezia at guthrie house.
had only one scoop of choc-mint. nice refreshing taste.
havent had gelato in a long while...

found out i have work this sat and next sat, coz we needed to make up for the cny hols.
i'm doing an inhouse training course at the moment, and the office flew in a trainer from the
head office in aberdeen. sucky la...
cny's eve also gota work... till 5 some more... according to the curriculum dat is.
same for the sat after dat.

oh wells...
gona sleep now. gota go work tom...
*sobz*
if not for work, i'll prob b at mambo now.

seems there's a flu bug flying ard still... read from someone's blog (cant rem whose)
dat it was already flying ard since like jan?

ppl out there better take care of yourselves.
more water, vitamin c and rest, esp if u're sick.

alritey... sleeping time...
nitezzzz

Back home...

Because potato got only eyes and no hands,
i will cut and paste the offline entries i wrote while at sea...

will throw in fotos and videos for better graphical explanation...

here we go:

17/01/07:
a fish trap got caught on our side-scan sonar fish(SSS in future entries i think).
4 big fishes inside.
and a waste of fresh-from-the-sea fish - they were fried.

and i discovered dat my left hand is now freckled. prob due to the
unforgiving blistering thai sun.
the weird thing is only my left hand is freckled. the right hand is ok.
i hope the freckles go away after some time.
dun like the sight of dots on my skin.

19/01/07:
been reading 'fast food nation' after watching the movie juz b4 leaving.
movie was quite confusing as there wasn't much of a story.
sypnosis in the papers or mags described the movie as one abt a manager
investigating a complaint abt shit in their burgers.

reading the book has been more insightful.
the movie had tried to put the different elements of the book together into
a movie which i felt didn't quite deliver the impact which the book had.

the book talks abt the history of the fast food industry in america and how
different events shaped the industry and how the industry has shaped the way
things are in today's america.

it also talks abt the so called dirty tricks employed by the large companies
responsible for bringing the burger to the consumer, us.
this does not only include the fast food chains, it also includes the meat
processing plants and how resilient the entire industry has been to bills
put up by the govts of the
times.

the book has really made me think twice abt ordering a burger...
at the moment at least... haha.

think wad the movie wanted to do was to generate some form of publicity for
the book... coz the movie isn't really all dat great, esp having to pay like
$10 on a monday to watch it at vivocity's gv europa cinema...
which by the way has sucky seats which gave me a bad headache coz u cant
slouch or sit relaxed in the seats... they force u to sit upright to fit the
seat nicely.

way to go, gv. after opening so many cinemas, they still cant get their seats
right. think the normal cinemas have better seats. *bleh*

the weather isn't being v kind to us at the moment.
boat is rocking quite a bit... was a challenge trying to stay balanced while
showering. but i managed in the end... haha...

feeling a little somewhat seasick... but not to the extent of throwing up and
all... thank god.

work was a little frustrating over the last 2 days coz our systems keep
failing us even tho we tested everything when we were setting them up in the
containers.

but everything is more or less fixed, so i hope our systems will work well...
and mother nature will show us her kind and merciful side.

20/01/07:
ok... mother nature is not feeling rather kind.
weather today is worse than yesterday. we're riding like 4m waves.
and the boat is rolling so much so that the side of the boat is almost level
w the sea surface. walking and showering have become great acts of balancing.
i'm sure jarrod will have died over and over again if he was here.

here's to feeling seasick w/o getting wet:

23/01/07:
tho i've only been on the vessel for a week, it feels as if i've onboard for
ages... kinda feel like going home... but it wun b the case for the next 3
more weeks... oh well... guess i've got to live w it...
unless i decide to go for a career change.

26/01/07:
janitor fish found clinging onto sss fish.
quite big abt as big as sss. also little baby ones.

so i decided to buy 4d on 2 numbers. one is the date, the other is the serial
number of the equipment which "caught" the fish.

28/01/07:
weather is quite bad today... waves are abt as tall as the side of the boat,
seemingly threatening to splash onto the deck. the boat was rolling so bad
that stuff in our container were falling over.

starting strapping everything down so nothing falls overboard or drops on
someone...

headed to koh samui to wait till the weather drops...
not very friendly weather out here at the moment...
it's a slow 13 hr journey to koh samui from wherever we are in the gulf of
thailand... could have been half dat time if not for the fact dat we cannot
get one of our equipment out of the water due to unfriendly waters.

even as i type this, i am sliding back and forth in my chair in the bridge.

hope things will improve by the time i have to get off...

29/01/07:
turns out we are not really going onshore to koh samui.
instead we are anchored off the coast of koh pangan, still within the
vicinity of koh samui... koh pangan is where the famous monthly "full moon
parties" are held. not sure if there's any party going on tonite... we're
abt 2km away from shore... cant heard or see anything...

i've got abt slightly over a week left b4 i head for home.
hope to b back onboard for the next job. so dat'll mean dat the m.o. gota
extend my mc from rt... i hope dat happens... coz if i have to go rt, i cant
go out to work... which means no money. which is not a good thing.

03/02/07:
it's another 2 more days before i leave the boat to grab a helicopter to
mainland thailand. in 2 minds about leaving...
on one hand i wana b home for cny, but on the other hand, i wana b out here
for a couple more weeks so dat i can earn a little bit more...
14 days x usd70 = usd980...dat's quite a decent bit... if u ask me...
but i've got no say in my going or staying...
so guess i've juz gota accept it.
gona have to see the camp m.o. when i get back... gona go for a run first to
see if the foot's all recovered... hope i've not...

07/02/07:
came home from camp.
m.o. gave me 2 months excuse from running until 7 april.
yay... but bloody thing is i might b going bangladesh next wed...
hope it's only for a week or something...

will only get more info when i go down the office tom...
no cny for me... *sobz*

My First...

Got pulled over on the pie this morning by the traffic police on my way to the office...
apparently it was coz i din slow down/ stop when i was coming in from the slip road.

so after some bargaining, the cop gave a warning...
guess it was some kind of an experience...
sitting in the cab and watching things happen...

was kinda worried dat the cabbie got pulled over
coz i wasn't wearing my seatbelt... haha.

so yea... the first time i got pulled over by the traffic police...
scary... even tho i'm not the driver...

on another note, i'm kinda getting pissed w my bro.
he's going to the states in like a week's time but he doesn't seem concerned or
anxious abt his preparation.

his laptop is being delivered today... but instead of staying home to receive it and making sure it's ok,
he's out meeting his fren coz he/she/it can only make it tonite.
it juz seems to me he's juz waiting for everyone to tell him wat to do or how to do.

he cant seem to even take care of himself...
he's been having this cough and he's been told to lay off the cold drinks, fried and spicy food and chicken.
but he's happily eating and drinking everything he shdn't.
now i'm kinda having second thoughts abt supporting him to go to the states for his internship.
but guess mayb this trip will be a good time for him to learn to be independent and to start using his brain a little more.

i know i shd help him out since he's my bro... but i also dun wana spoonfeed him coz he's gona b alone over there for a year
and he cant possibly be calling home and asking for help.

oh well... enough of him...

went to the office to "visit"my manager. been told i'll be leaving for a job in thailand sometime next week... probably leaving on tue.
but i hope it'll b like wed or thur.
coz wana catch forbidden chestnuts leh... esp since i know for sure i'll b missing hossan leong's multiple personalities disorder.

oh shit !!
juz realized dat if i'm leaving on the 9th...
i'll be missing the last 2 tap classes. shit man...
feels like i kinda wasted a bit of my money... coz out of 8 classes i will have missed 4.
so not worth the money... pray for me dat i'll leave on the 11th...
i wana leave on the 11th...
i wana leave on the 11th...
i wana leave on the 11th...

and since i wun b ard in jan to celebrate ppl's birthday... here's wishing you all a happy birthday!!

jan bday ppl (in chronological order):
fel, rachel, nigel, leslie, mark...

and to jody as well... but his bday's in feb... but i wun b ard also...
so happy birthday in advance...

den again... i juz realized dat these ppl dun really read my blog...
hahahaha... but oh wells...

wat i have written, i have written...

okie... gona go off now... see u all soon...

happy new year!
and if u've got a new year resolution, may u have the determination to go through w it...
wat's mine?
hmmm...

guess it could b to save more money.

cheerios!!
